As a young boy, I often had sinus problems which I attributed to the pollen in the air. Since Singapore is a garden city, I guessed the various varieties of plants and flora was to be blamed for my Hay Fever. It never seemed to go away, until I left the country when I was 25.

As an expat in China, which I lived for a decade, I never had sinus problems. Despite the fact that the city was booming with construction works, dust, dirt should surely aggravate the problem further, but I was spared! The strange thing was that every time I returned home to Singapore for holidays, my sinus problems returned.

As I began to practice my therapies, I soon realized that as a child, the fears of punishment, inability to express my feelings, disapprovals from adults, bottled up frustrations, etc, had actually harmed the body. In response, the body expressed its reaction by displaying signs of Sinusitis as a protest. This was in accordance with our studies!

How many times have we heard parents disapproving their children? “Don’t do this! Don’t touch that! Or else….!”

As a child, the parents surely looked like intimidating giants when they were being reprimanded!

We have a choice to let our children live a better life, but if we instill the same education as our parents instilled in us, what will our children become?
