Today is a Happy Day for me. It’s my birthday and also my wife’s birthday. I closed a big business deal today, got complimented by a young lady that I sounded like a young man… My daughter made me a personal Birthday Card! That’s why I am happy.
However, many of us celebrate birthdays for the wrong reasons. It isn’t supposed to be a happy day. It merely means you are one day closer to DEATH!
The true meaning of Birthday is remembering and being grateful to our MOTHERS for risking her life to give birth to us. It is a day to remember her pain and suffering of carrying us in their wombs for 9-10 months! We could have possibly killed our mothers in the process of coming to this world!
We tend to lose our patience with our parents when we become adults. Did our mother became impatient with teaching and encouraging us to walk and talk? When we pester our mothers with Why this, and Why That etc, the insistent babbling and questioning, did they showed any reluctance to satisfy our curiosity and desire to learn when we were young?
I was a naughty kid when I was young and was constantly punished for misbehaving. Well, it is natural for kids to misbehave. Many people blame their parents for miscommunication, lack of love, abuses etc. However, did we ever find out how our parents lived during their younger days as a child? You will probably discover that they suffered the same fate as you now under the hands of your grandparents.
Our parents taught and disciplined us using the ways they knew best, and that was learned from their parents. They merely copied the old ways. When we become parents ourselves, our natural role models are our own parents and we repeat the same methods, hence the cycle continues to the next generation.
STOP! It needn’t be this way! We are all educated now, and if we understand the past actions, we can learn from the mistakes and NOT repeat the old ways of treating our kids. A habit is formed by a thought, and a thought can be changed! Changing our thoughts will change our habits. Hence we can improve and change ourselves!
Just as a person lighting a torch in a pitch dark room will be able to light up everyone in the same room, everyone in the room will be lit up by his action. We are all very important as we can light up other people’s lives, by lighting up ourselves. Yes, we are very important because we can choose to be good or evil!
Most importantly, we need to light up ourselves (changing ourselves for the better) to be able to Love ourselves. If we cannot love ourselves, we can never love others.
On such a memorable day, because I am still alive and able to light up my life as well as other people’s lives, I hereby express my heartfelt gratitude to my mother for risking her life to bring me to this world despite all the difficulties and hardships and pain…
I Love You Mother! Thank you very much!
This is also for all birthday boys and girls, may everyone have a happy time together!
Thank you! I Love You!
